Mary Patricia Laporte Quish, 85, of West Hartford passed away peacefully on Monday, September 6, 2010 at Atria Hamilton Heights with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late William P. "King" Quish, Jr. Born in West Hartford Connecticut, she was the daughter of Alexander and Cecilia Laporte. She was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy and Russell Sage College in Albany, NY. After graduating, Mary was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross during World War II and then passionately pursued her college major as a French teacher. She was a founding member of Saint Timothy's Church in West Hartford and later an active member of both the Saint Timothy's and Saint Ann's (Avon) Women's Club. After raising her children, she was employed by Mobile Redemptions as an executive assistant to the vice president. Mary will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and a woman of unwavering Christian faith. She leaves her four children and their spouses, William and Susan Heslin Quish of Simsbury, Stephen and Carol Carpenter Quish of West Hartford, Mary and Hal Smullen of West Hartford, Maureen Quish Jendraszek of West Hartford and ten grandchildren, Kelly, Katie, and Susie Quish of Simsbury, Sarah, Amanda, Stephen, and Tom Quish of West Hartford, Jeffrey and Will Smullen of West Hartford, and Ryan Jendraszek of West Hartford. Mary was predeceased by her two brothers John C. Laporte and Joseph G. Laporte both of West Hartford. The family would like to give special thanks to Vicki Barnes for her extraordinary and compassionate care of Mary during her illness. Thanks also to the Atria and VITAS staff for their kind and professional care. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 4-7 P.M. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Friends are invited to join Mary's family at the celebration of her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Timothy's Church, 1116 North Main Street, West Hartford. Burial will follow at the Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT.
