Margaret (Ahearn) Jalbert, 96, of West Hartford and formerly Meriden, wife of the late Raymond Jalbert, died Saturday, August 28, 2010. Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Timothy and Mabel (Yungk) Ahearn, she went to Our Lady of Sorrows School, Mt. St. Joseph Academy and graduated from St. Agnes School of Pediatric Nursing. She worked at St. Agnes Home and McCook County Hospital for many years. She made her home in Meriden for almost 60 years, prior to moving to West Hartford. A devout catholic she was a longtime communicant of St. Laurent Church in Meriden, and currently a parishioner of the Church of St. Timothy in West Hartford. Her devout faith was the anchor of her strength as she kept prayerful thoughts for many and watched the mass on TV daily. She was a member of St. Agnes Guild, the Daughters of Isabella and had been an avid bridge player. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn McCloud of Newington, a cousin Elaine Yungk of West Hartford, two nieces, Pamela Molloy and her husband Thomas of Newington, Kathy Carterud and her husband Robert of Windsor Locks and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Edmund Ahearn. She spent the last eight years of her vibrant life living with her great niece Shauna Molloy and her husband David Skinner. It was during these years that she continued to enjoy many joyous days and holidays with countless friends and family from near and far. It his here in West Hartford that she also embraced many simple pleasures including drinking tea while watching the ducks swim down the river with her protective German Shepard, Dakota, by her side. Never alone, she was fortunate to have been blessed by the daily loving care of Donesia Small whose energy and smile brightened her days. Margarets spiritual strength and kindness were the gifts that she shared with others. Her quiet, gentle presence graced the lives of many. Related or not, she was fondly known as Aunt Margaret by all. On behalf of Aunt Margaret we know that she would thank you for the joyful love that you shared. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 am at The Church of St. Timothy, 1116 North main St., West Hartford. Burial will follow in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. at Margarets home, 1 Sunny Reach Dr., West Hartford. Online expressions of sympathy may be made at www.molloyfuneralhome.com. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Francis Hospice 114 Woodland St., Hartford, CT 06105 or St. Timothys Church 1116 North Main St West Hartford, CT 06107
