Mary P. Hannan, 89 years of age, died on Sunday, March, 7th 2010 at Bradford Commons Kennebunk, Maine following a lengthy illness. She was born in North Andover, MA on December 16, 1920, a daughter of Robert H. and Anne B. Patterson. She grew up in Andover, MA where she graduated from the former Abbot Academy (now Phillips Andover Academy). She then attended both Brown University and the Kathryn Gibbs School.
She met her future husband, Dr. William Hannan, in Andover. They were married on August 24th, 1946 and enjoyed 44 years together until his death in 1990. After Dr. Hannan's graduation from Harvard Medical School, he and Mary moved to New York. Mary's primary focus was as a homemaker raising their four children. After their first two children were born, they moved to West Hartford. Mary joined and was a life member of the St. Francis Hospital Women's Auxiliary. She was also a communicant at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in West Hartford.
Mary and the family were longtime summer residents of Kennebunk Beach. She was also an enthusiastic Bridge player.
Mary was predeceased by husband, Dr. William S. Hannan and her sister Jane Tilney.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Robert L. Hannan, his wife Susie, and their children Michael and Helen of Miami, FL; three daughters, Karen Arthur and her daughter Kimberly of CA, Jane Chilton and her son R. Graham of Kennebunkport, ME, and Margaret "Peggy" Wagor, her husband David, and their children Rawley and Carson also of Kennebunkport, ME.
Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, March 12th, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford CT., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford, CT. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
